Introducing Southbay Parents’ Nook: A Cozy Micro-Community for Parents/Families and Caregivers

Nestled in the heart of the South Bay, Southbay Parents’ Nook @ Be Natural Music, is a children’s music school located in the heart of Cupertino. We will create a welcoming space designed for parents, caregivers, and families seeking support, connection, and enrichment. Whether you're a new parent navigating the early years or an experienced caregiver looking for resources and community, Southbay Nook is here to help. This Nook was initiated by a parent who wanted to try Nooks out. We additionally got referrals from another parent who has been to Nooks.

We are delighted to have created a partnership with Be Natura Music School.

This space and collaboration is headed up by our lead play facilitator Virginia. Virginia has been a facilitator and a member of the Nook Santa Cruz community since we started. Many collaborations in Santa Cruz and facilitation efforts were led by her. She is a mom too. We love the Santa Cruz community, it's where we started. More about Virginia in the below link:
Meet the Lead Play Facilitator

As you all might know a Nook is deeply inspired where we are doing it. As it is a music studio, and Virginia is a music teacher herself, it will be inspired by open-ended music creation. In other words, we will let the children make music

So this is a community effort and thus we call ourselves a self-evolving micro-community based on the needs of the parents.

What to expect in an indoor Nook:
“We have basic trust in the children to initiate, explore, and learn what they can from their experiences. In the play, children learn about themselves with their environment, which includes awareness of those around them. Practice in problem-solving, compromise, and conflict resolution is an experience gained during free play.  The development of imaginative play leads to critical thinking skills in later years.  Balance and movement skills, coordination, and language are also developed as the children engage in self-directed play.
Our goal is to make the Nook’s play environment a sanctuary for children--a peaceful, uncluttered, and protected space where their imagination and creativity will flourish. An environment that allows children to do what they would naturally do. Simple natural objects and open-ended toys provide opportunities for play and give the children real and true impressions that will nourish their senses.  Imagination is the young child’s special talent and their natural way of learning.” Christina Assirati
